Our client is New England’s largest petroleum transportation company with ten facilities in five of six New England states, specializes in hauling gasoline, diesel, propane, liquid asphalt, heavy oil, flatbed and cement throughout New England.

1st Shift Dispatcher
Our client is looking for a 1st Shift Dispatcher to work full time in their West Springfield, MA location. This position will be required to perform all required duties to dispatch company vehicles efficiently. Ability to dispatch loads with a minimum number of unloaded miles. Assign loads to drivers to complete the loads within available hours per the FMCSA regulations. Assign loads to drivers with proper equipment to accomplish the task.

Responsibilities:
  • Check delivery information to ensure delivery of customer product requirements.
  • Follow all regulations and company policies on proper paperwork required for product delivery.
  • Create order tickets and transmit instructions, including dispatch through electronic means such as electronic on-board recording devices.
  • Keep verbal communications to a minimum.
  • Check assignments for proper deliveries verifying the quality, quantities, gallons, pounds, etc.
  • Assign work within the parameters that allow for on time deliveries to customers. Track trucks through GPS to report any late deliveries.
  • Promptly process paperwork at terminal. Contact drivers with changes and updates.
  • Monitor driver logs to make required deliveries within available hours.
  • During an emergency such as a spill or a crash, gather all pertinent information required and report it to the safety department and stand by to assist in the process.
  • Coordinate with other dispatchers within the terminal and at other terminals for an efficient dispatch.
  • Be aware of working conditions such as the weather and time of day with the traffic conditions and anticipate problems.
  • Be proactive when problems occur and work on solutions to minimize their effect.
  • Continuous mental and/or visual attention especially while assigning loads to allow the drivers to complete them without incident.
Experience:
  • Must demonstrate the experience, knowledge, skill and judgment required of a professional person.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Must be able to read and write and add and subtract and carry out instructions.
  • Requires the use of judgment to plan additional loads with the least amount of downtime.
