Brokerage Sales Representative
This role is responsible for directing sales efforts to expand our freight client’s customer base. This role will be responsible for generating new business for the freight brokerage and ensuring that sales targets are met or exceeded across all lines of business. This individual should be a motivated logistics customer sales representative with logistics and transportation experience and an entrepreneurial spirit capable of generating leads.

Responsibilities:
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving environment.
  • Can think outside the box to generate leads and close deals.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and work well with a team.
  • Grow the brokerage revenue and develop relationships with existing customer base.
  • Generate leads through cold calling, networking and referrals.
  • Utilize inside sales knowledge to ensure the brokerage’s business development.
  • Quote formal and spot bids using logistics pricing experience.
  • Negotiate logistics contracts and rate agreements with customers.
  • Support carrier reps with the coordination of transportation freight in a cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate pick-up and delivery appointment times of freight.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, shippers, and receivers regarding changes in pick-up/delivery and potential service failures of any freight operations.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction - maintain close contact with all customers–including follow up on concerns or other issues concerning freight the brokerage is responsible for.
  • Communicate customer problems to the freight brokerage management.
  • Document issues with shipments and distribution thoroughly to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Pre-plan the use of carriers and freight equipment for optimal efficiency.
  • Track/trace shipments when requested by 3PL clients.
  • Exceed all standards for prospecting calls, logistics presentations, business proposals and closes using SOPs provided during training.
  • Develop, execute and monitor strategic and tactical goals to maximize sales, profit and to ensure brokerage sales targets are met or exceeded.
  • Provide documented activity reports of your logistics sales efforts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in a high-sales environment, preferably within the logistics, transportation industry.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the logistics/transportation industry.
  • Intermediate computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Bringing in an existing book of business is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment and experienced in cold calling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop new business and maintain current relationships of the freight brokerage within the logistics and transportation industry.
