As a Business Development Executive - Transportation, you will be responsible for prospecting, cold calling, and maintaining client relationships within your designated
territory. You will work independently and collaboratively with the sales team to identify new opportunities, develop leads, and secure freight business. The ideal candidate is goal-driven, organized, and persistent, with a strong ability to build rapport and close deals.
Job Type: Full-time/Work from home
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage an assigned sales territory.
- Proactively cold call on small to mid-sized businesses in industrial parks, starting daily at 8:30 AM.
- Visit 20-30 prospects daily, building relationships and assessing freight needs.
- Identify target accounts and implement a structured follow-up strategy.
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships.
- Track and report on sales performance, leads, and client interactions.
- Engage decision-makers to present customized freight solutions and convert leads into customers.
- Foster long-term relationships through in-person visits, follow-ups, and professional networking.
- Organize client meetings, such as lunches, coffee chats, or entertainment activities (as approved).
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring ongoing account maintenance and retention.
- Consistently track sales activities, including cold calls, meetings, and follow-ups.
- Submit weekly expense reports with clear documentation of client-related spending.
- Provide weekly sales logs every Friday, summarizing key activities and opportunities.
- Participate in monthly in-person sales meetings to discuss strategies and progress.
- Follow a structured sales cycle, from initial outreach to securing business.
- Use small promotional gifts (e.g., coffee, cookies, branded merchandise) to strengthen client relationships.
- Balance relationship-building expenses with company profitability—spend wisely while fostering client connections.
- Work collaboratively with the sales team to delegate unsolicited leads and ensure proper territory coverage.
- Experience in B2B sales, transportation, or logistics (preferred but not required).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage leads, expenses, and follow-ups efficiently.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, Excel, or other tracking methods (spreadsheets, binders, or notes).
- Self-motivated and persistent sales professionals who thrive in a field-based role.
- Strong ability to develop relationships and close deals.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
