Carrier Operations Manager
The Carrier Operations Manager will report to the Director of Logistics. Overall, the Operations Manager will manage the carrier sales and scheduling teams to ensure customer requirements/needs are met. This position will guide the carrier sales team, securing capacity at profitable levels to provide customers with the most efficient mode of transportation for their products, on time and intact. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to effectively manage a team in following processes in the execution of their work. The Operations Manager will be requested to make presentations, train, assign special projects, and oversee the implementation of departmental changes.

Responsibilities:
- Manages operations department, reviewing reports, monitoring floor communication, etc., to ensure work is being completed on time, problems are resolved, and positive performance outcomes are being attained.
- Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
- Draw on relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity.
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks and that goals are customer expectations are met.
- Devise approaches/strategies for ensuring department success and implement process improvements to maximize output and minimize costs.
- Ensure team adherence to company’s policies, standards and work requirements.
- Ensure/maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
- Collaborate with senior managers in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
- Set department goals with leader for operational efficiency and increased productivity.
- Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary.
- Strong Negotiation Ability (Carrier, Customer, Margin Integrity).
- Must be able to analyze, understand and present Customers and Carriers KPI metrics and scores.
- Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to the team.
- Other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business or another field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience required. 5 years directly managing a Carrier Sales Team and Scheduling team.
- McLeod experience preferred.
- Must have intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent working knowledge of logistics/transportation industry.
- Must be able to work in systems, understanding processes, integrity, of data etc.
- Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate business reports and procedures to provide direction to team and understand trends to report.
- Ability to provide performance feedback though daily/weekly coaching, 1:1’s with team members and write/conduct performance evaluations.
- Ability to provide conflict resolution between team members, department and with customers
- Adaptable & flexible mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Team player attitude.
