Director, Distribution Centers
The Director, Distribution Centers oversees the operations of all distribution
centers and retail warehouses nationwide. These facilities are strategically located across the United States to serve our client’s customers through delivery or pickup. Deliveries are made using private fleet or through a 3PL solution. This role is directly responsible for safety, quality, service, productivity, and both administrative and financial performance. To achieve these results, the Director will lead, teach, and manage their direct reports while maintaining a significant presence among all associates in the distribution center network.
Direct reports include Regional DC Managers, Training and Process Excellence Managers, and Logistics Managers. The Director is also responsible for driving and empowering associates to engage and improve performance, manage turnover, and create an environment focused on individual and team accountability. Inventory management and accuracy are key components of this role. Additionally, the Director will manage monthly spending and provide insights into opportunities
and risks. Curiosity, continuous process improvement, a focus on KPIs, and adherence to budget are essential. This position sets goals and executes strategies to meet corporate business objectives. The Director is responsible for developing team culture and successfully leading operations by practicing our client’s Core Values. This role requires effective and professional communication across all functional departments of the organization, including but not limited to Executives, Sales, Finance, IT, Transportation, Human Resources, and outside
suppliers. The Director must always represent the best interests of the company. All interpersonal communications, business decisions, and actions should support the goals and directives set by the executive management team.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment for all employees and maintain a safe working record.
- Lead and institute continuous improvement programs for all locations.
- Ensure excellent customer service through professional fleet operation, customer relations and proper inventory.
- Preparation of annual operating budgets for each operation in the network. Meet or exceed budget requirements.
- Communicate with cross functional partners in the DC network, planning, transportation, and procurement in order to promote teamwork and consistency in achieving goals.
- Maintain and build job skills through company and outside training programs.
- Oversee various operational programs and ensure business unit compliance.
- Identify efficiency improvements.
- Ensure development of DC Regional Managers and where applicable, DC Managers. Develop bench-strength and succession planning in the network.
- Make decisions, provide recommendations and ensure that the operation is functioning effectively and profitably.
- Communicate timely and effectively with VP of Logistics with regards to performance and operations.
- Identify opportunities with Procurement to reduce costs in the Allied products supply chain.
- Understand and practice our client’s Core Values.
Experience:
- 4-year Business or Supply Chain degree preferred
- 5-7 years progressive responsibility with a previous employer
- Similar job experience required
- Excellent leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to communicate at different levels within the organization
- Understanding of logistics, transportation and supply chain
