Director of Business Development
As a Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for the development of plans and strategies to prospect for new clients by networking, calling, advertising or other means of generating interest. You will be responsible for identifying prospective opportunities, developing customer relationships, and implementing plans of action which will develop the pipeline of new business as well as expand existing business into the company.

Responsibilities:
- Your primary responsibility will be identifying companies experiencing challenges with their supply chain transportation network and presenting the company’s suite of services and expertise as an optimal solution.
- Prospecting for companies that ship freight within North America.
- Researching companies/contacts preparing for initial call.
- Cold calling and/or cold emailing prospects to initiate conversations.
- Identifying business opportunities within new and current customers.
- Building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Monitoring trends and changes in customer purchase behavior and following up to determine the root cause.
- Collaborating with company experts to set up discovery calls and in-person meetings with prospective and existing customers.
- Be accountable to monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Candidate will have current “relationships” that will meet with them.
- Contact new shippers by cold calling and using known contacts within the industry.
- Set up meetings with shippers to sell truckload and brokerage services.
- Determine the best coverage opportunities. Lane by lane or country wide based on shippers’ needs or areas of interest.
- Negotiate rates on new business lanes to include opportunities for annual rate increases based on service levels.
- Work with the operational team for the first 90 days to ensure coverage that was sold is being managed properly.
- Be the point of contact for shippers on escalated items.
- Other sales functions as requested by the company.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience and proven sales success required.
- “Hunter” mentality – someone who constantly wants to be growing their book of business.
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and incentive driven.
- Cultivating customer relationships plays on your strengths including being able to efficiently handle client challenges and use emotional intelligence to guide interactions.
- Problem solver – someone who is excited about collaborating with the company’s team of experts to curate solutions that will optimize client transportation networks while achieving sales success.
- Excellent communicator and comfortable speaking with prospects working in the warehouse of medium-sized companies up to C-Suite executives of Fortune 500 corporations.
