Director of Transportation
As the Director of Transportation, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the transportation department within the organization. You will play a key role in developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize transportation operations and ensure efficiency.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the transportation, drivers, and owner-operators team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of transportation activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Optimally utilize all transportation assets and related equipment.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align transportation strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Create and manage the transportation budget, and review and approve all department expenses.
  • Resolve transportation-related issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors and carriers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards, including DOT and insurance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Transportation New Business Development Director to ensure new customers and contracts can be properly serviced.
  • Properly enter and document all load-related information.
Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management.
  • 6-10 years experience managing a transportation/fleet operation. Experience providing strategic leadership to a transportation department, including company drivers and owner-operators.
  • 6-10 years experience managing a team, preferably with a specialization in transportation
  • Experience with transportation related laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience creating an annual budget and managing a transportation-operation’s P&L.
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, and adept at providing executive-level presentations
  • Proficient in Transportation Management Systems (Planning, Dispatch, Customer Portals, Load Scheduling) and Microsoft Office products.
